Aftermarket Harley Davidson Parts

A major part of owning a Harley Davidson is being able to customize it. Harley riders are famous for their love of individuality. Even riders who would have nothing to do with outlaw biker gangs sometimes like to have a bit of a "bad" look about them. This unique look is accomplished in several ways.

Harley Davidson apparel definitely marks a dedicated rider as such. Often a rider will display a patch from a club that they're a member of. One popular way to display individuality is to customize the bike. Aftermarket Harley Davidson parts are available for every application conceivable, from sissy bars and seats to performance exhaust.

Some aftermarket Harley Davidson parts are for purely cosmetic reasons -- they make the bike look awesome, but they don't really affect the way it runs. For example, buckhorn handlebar risers don't help the bike's performance, and can actually be less comfortable on long rides, but they help create the classic "bad" Harley look. An extra loud muffler can enhance the "wow" effect that every Harley rider strives to achieve.

Other aftermarket parts are both cosmetic and functional reasons. Harmonic headers look great, and make the bike sound awesome, but do more than just add some zing. The twists and turns of those silver pipes smooth the flow of exhaust and actually increase power slightly. This is because if air enters the exhaust pipe at the wrong time, it could slightly back pressure the next cylinder to fire, causing a small reduction in power. Harmonic pipes eliminate this.

Whatever customization you undertake for your bike, be sure to check your state's regulations first. Often states have limits to how high handle bars can be or how loud an engine can be.
