Harley Davidson, the American made classic, is now one of the best motorcycles to own. Whether you like a smooth ride, or the vibrating ride of the classics, there is a Harley for you. Harleys have come a long way, and now there are several models and styles to choose from. It used to be that they came only one way -- always breaking down, loud, and uncomfortable for the long ride, but now you have so many choices that it’s a joy to shop for one.
The new models come in five different categories, VRSC, Dyna, Sportster, Softail, and Touring. The VRSC has a 1250cc V-Twin motor with fuel injection, overhead cam, and liquid-cooled DOHC, with anti-lock brake systems as an option. The Dyna family is equipped with a rubber mounted, air cooled, 1584cc twin cam engine. The Sportster is the original, and is the oldest of the Harley family bikes. It has rubber mounted 883cc and 1200cc Evolution engines, dual shorty tailpipes, and low seat height. The Softails are run with a rigid-mounted, twin cam 96B engine, with classic hard-tail style and hidden rear suspension. There is also the choice of Rockertail, Bobtail, or FL style rear fenders. The Touring class is the Cadillac of Harley’s. They all come equipped with a air-cooled twin cam 96r engines; except, of course the Tri Glide, which has the air-cooled twin cam 103. They have brembo brakes, upgraded suspension, and 2-1-2 exhaust systems.
Harley Davidson also has a bike for the quarter mile race. The VRXSE Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer was built to go under 10 seconds in the quarter mile drag. The chassis was designed based on the VRSCA V-rod, but was designed specifically for the quarter mile drag. So, no matter where you want to use your new Harley, they have a design to fit your style.
