You don’t have to be an avid biker to want to be comfortable on your bike. Whether you are just wanting to get out and do some leisurely biking or get into for the sport of it, you will want to dress appropriately and be the most comfortable that you can be. There is certain attire that is recommended for bikers to not only keep them comfortable, but keep them from getting chapped skin, keep them hydrated and freer to pedal without their attire getting all hung up in the bike.
There are bike shops that you can go to for purchasing bike attire and then there are stores like Wal-Mart that sells biking attire. You can get as extravagant as you want or be thrifty. Some of the recommended attire for biking is to start, a good and comfortable pair of shoes. Your feet will be on the pedals pushing and you want not only good support but adequate cushioning.
You'll also want comfortable socks for biking. Athletic socks are best as they help absorb perspiration. A good pair of bike shorts, preferably one with a pad in the seat, is also recommended. The pad isn’t just necessarily for cushioning the seat but absorbing perspiration as well. Also, you will want a shirt, preferably an athletic shirt that is light and airy and breathes with your body.
You want a good bike helmet too. Some people prefer to wear fingerless gloves to keep their hand perspiration from preventing them from holding the handle bars. You may also want a pair of sunglasses to keep the sun and glare out of your eyes.
